The confirmation ministry at Gethsemane seeks to uphold God's children as they affirm the gifts and promises of baptism. Together we explore the Bible, Luther's Small Catechism, and our questions about faith as we grow and learn more about God, each other, and ourselves.
Confirmation classes at Gethsemane begin in 6th Grade and continue through the 8th Grade. They normally meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Some of the topics that we will be learning about are the Old and New Testament, the Apostles' Creed, the Lord's Prayer, the 10 Commandments, Baptism, Holy Communion, Worship, and Other Faiths. We also encourage taking faith home through faith conversations and service to our community through bimonthly service projects, which are a part of the Sunday morning schedule. We also spend time in small groups building relationships with one another, as well as with mentors to build connections between youth and adults in unique and faithful conversations.
