This week, we talk about a text that can be very confusing. Jesus talks about his relationship to God, and the English translation sort of makes it really hard for us to get a grip on what Jesus is saying. This is why I tried using the Message version of the Bible to help us look at the concepts that Jesus is trying to get us to look at. One of the most interesting concept is what is our frame of reference when we look at the Bible. Jesus invites us to see the Bible through him and his ministry. What do you think about that? This is just one of many questions we look at this week. As always please leave a question or comment below.

Sorry for the long break in-between posts, normally I try to do my filming on Sundays and then post the videos on Fridays. However Mother's day through a monkey wrench in my plans. I had a great time at brunch with my family, the only bad thing was that I didn't have time to work on many of my communication tasks for the week. My wife and mother-in-law had a great day which was the important thing.
So diving back in, this week we look at Jesus talking to a Samaritian woman and how that relates to John 3:16. We also ask the question does reading the scripture do anything to us as people. As always feel free to comment below. Give yourself some applause we are in Chapter 3. This is a good feat, and we need to give ourselves some props that we have been in the Bible for three weeks now. So has there been anything the has surprised you so far? Do you use more than one version of the Bible when yo do this? How has the version you are using so far working out for you.
Well today is the day, when we begin to hear some power verses out of the Bible. We get to talk about what does it mean to be born again or born from above. Believe it or not, we can translate the Greek word into either of these two phrases. I think the bigger question is what does it mean for our lives? Besides this text we also get the football verse John 3:16. I call it the football verse because when I was growing up every time I had an NFL game on the TV I would see signs with this verse plastered everywhere. It talks about God's love and God's decision for God to send God's son own to Earth. What does this say about the character of the God we worship? These are just a couple of things we look at in our youtube video for this week. Next week's assignment is Chapter 4....it is exciting this week but next week will just blow your doors off. |
